Cottondale Hornets (Cottondale, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Vernon Yellowjackets (Vernon, FL), 9-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 7-6 record. They take the field next when they host Wakulla Christian School for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 14. Cottondale will battle a Saints squad coming off a 11-7 non-league loss to St. John Paul II (Tallahassee, FL). The Saints record now stands at 5-9.

With the loss, Vernon falls to 8-7 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets travel to Bethlehem (Bonifay, FL) to battle the Wildcats in a 1A District 2 challenge on Wednesday, April 12. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 7-3. Bethlehem won 20-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Poplar Springs (Graceville, FL)
