Union Catholic Vikings (Scotch Plains, NJ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting New Providence Pioneers (New Providence, NJ), 8-6 in a league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 3-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Oak Knoll for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 13. Union Catholic will face a Royals squad coming off a 19-0 non-league win over Hillside (Hillside, NJ). The Royals record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, New Providence falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Pioneers travel to Hoboken (Hoboken, NJ) to face the Redwings in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 13. The Redwings enter the challenge with a record of 0-2.
