The Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA) softball nipped the visiting Person Rockets (Roxboro, NC), 5-4 in Thursday's non-league bout.

The Comets (8-2) will now prepare for their bout against Dan River (Ringgold, VA). The Wildcats go into the non-league bout with a 4-3 record. In their last bout, Dan River held off Nelson County (Lovingston, VA), 7-6, in a league bout.

The Rockets now possess a 3-6 record. They play next when they host Cedar Ridge for a Central 3A bout on Friday, April 12. Person will confront a Fighting Red Wolves squad coming off a 10-1 non-league win over Falls Lake (Creedmoor, NC). The Fighting Red Wolves record now stands at 7-4.
