Pine Tree Pirates (Longview, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Marshall Mavericks (Marshall, TX), 9-4 in a league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 15-12 record. They take the field next when they host Tyler for a 5A Region II District 15 challenge on Friday, April 12. Pine Tree will battle a Lions squad coming off a 27-0 league loss to Whitehouse (Whitehouse, TX). The Lions record now stands at 4-22.

With the loss, Marshall falls to 6-13 on the campaign. The Mavericks travel to Texas (Texarkana, TX) to battle the Tigers in a 5A Region II District 15 challenge on Friday, April 12. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 18-10. Texas won 24-13 in their recent league challenge against Longview (Longview, TX)
