South Mountain Jaguars (Phoenix, AZ) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Washington Rams (Phoenix, AZ), 9-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Jaguars now sport a 8-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to McClintock for a 5A Metro challenge on Friday, April 12. South Mountain will face a Chargers squad coming off a 3-2 league loss to Fairfax (Laveen, AZ). The Chargers record now stands at 9-7.

With the loss, Washington falls to 1-16 on the campaign. The Rams travel to Independence (Glendale, AZ) to face the Patriots in a 5A Central Valley challenge on Friday, April 12. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 3-9. Independence lost 17-6 in their recent league challenge against Youngker (Buckeye, AZ)
