In Friday's league match, the host Kingwood Mustangs softball team scored a tight 2-1 win over the King Panthers.
The Mustangs (23-3) will now prepare for their match against Summer Creek (Houston, TX). The Bulldogs come into the 6A Region III District 23 match with a 23-4 record. In their last match, Summer Creek nipped Humble (Humble, TX), 12-0, in a league match.
In their next game, the Panthers battle the North Shore Mustangs (Houston, TX) in a 6A Region III District 23 match, on Tuesday, April 15. King will attempt to better on its 17-11 season record. The Mustangs come into the match with a 9-12 record after their 14-4 league loss to Atascocita (Humble, TX).
