Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) fans were pleased Monday as they observed their soccer team knock off the visiting Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), 5-2 in a league challenge.

Next, the Mountaineers confront the Charles D. Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge, on Wednesday, April 14. Mitchell will attempt to better on its 2-3 season record. The Warhorses enter the challenge with a 5-1 record after their 4-3 league loss to Madison (Marshall, NC).

The Vikings now have a 0-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mountain Heritage for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Wednesday, April 14.
