Kings Mountain Mountaineers (Kings Mountain, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting North Gaston Wildcats (Dallas, NC), 7-2 in a league challenge.

The Mountaineers now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Huss for a Big South 3A challenge on Wednesday, April 14. Kings Mountain will battle a Huskies squad coming off a 14-3 non-league loss to Hickory (Hickory, NC). The Huskies record now stands at 0-6.

With the loss, North Gaston falls to 5-4 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Forestview (Gastonia, NC) to battle the Jaguars in a Big South 3A challenge on Wednesday, April 14. The Jaguars enter the challenge with a record of 5-4. Forestview won 10-1 in their recent league challenge against Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC)
