The Newman Fighting Cardinals got by the visiting Stratford Tigers softball squad by a count of 6-5 in Friday's non-league battle.
The Fighting Cardinals (1-3) will now prepare for their battle against Auburndale (Auburndale, WI). The Apaches go into the non-league battle with a 4-3 record. In their last battle, Auburndale nudged Assumption (Wisconsin Rapids, WI), 4-1, in a league battle.
The Tigers now sport a 5-2 record. They play next when they host Marathon for a Marawood - South battle on Monday, April 15. Stratford will meet a Red Raiders squad coming off a 7-1 league win over Edgar (Edgar, WI). The Red Raiders record now stands at 4-3.
