Salem Spartans (Salem, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Patrick Henry Patriots (Roanoke, VA), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 7-5 record. They take the field next when they host Pulaski County for a River Ridge challenge on Tuesday, April 16. Salem will face a Cougars squad coming off a 3-1 league loss to Christiansburg (Christiansburg, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 4-5.

With the loss, Patrick Henry falls to 0-7 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Franklin County (Rocky Mount, VA) to face the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 15. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 2-2. Franklin County lost 7-5 in their recent league challenge against Staunton River (Moneta, VA)
