Newport Cubs (Newport, OR) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Sweet Home Huskies (Sweet Home, OR), 10-5 in a league challenge.

The Cubs now own a 4-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Philomath for a 4A Oregon West challenge on Monday, April 17.

With the loss, Sweet Home falls to 1-4 on the campaign. The Huskies host Cascade (Turner, OR) to battle the Cougars in a 4A Oregon West challenge on Saturday, April 15. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 2-0.
