Ocean Township Spartans (Oakhurst, NJ) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Holmdel Hornets (Holmdel, NJ), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 1-4 record. They take the field next when they host Red Bank Regional for a Shore - B North challenge on Monday, April 15.

With the loss, Holmdel falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, NJ) to face the Caseys in a Shore - A Central challenge on Monday, April 15. The Caseys enter the challenge with a record of 6-1. Red Bank Catholic lost 6-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Morris Catholic (Denville, NJ)
