Elgin Wildcats (Elgin, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Bastrop Bears (Bastrop, TX), 2-0 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now sport a 21-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pflugerville for a 5A Region III District 23 challenge on Tuesday, April 18. Elgin will face a Panthers squad coming off a 17-0 league win over Pflugerville Connally (Austin, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 19-6.

With the loss, Bastrop falls to 8-14 on the campaign. The Bears host Cedar Creek (Cedar Creek, TX) to face the Eagles in a 5A Region III District 23 challenge on Tuesday, April 18. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 2-20. Cedar Creek lost 17-0 in their recent league challenge against Georgetown (Georgetown, TX)
