Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Shenango Wildcats (New Castle, PA), 9-1 in a league challenge.

The Spartan now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host New Brighton for a WPIAL 2A 4 challenge on Wednesday, April 19.

With the loss, Shenango falls to 2-6 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Freedom Area (Freedom, PA) to battle the Bulldogs in a WPIAL 2A 4 challenge on Monday, April 17. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Freedom Area lost 13-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hopewell (Aliquippa, PA)
