North Carolina High School Softball - Laney bounces Ashley

April 14, 2026: Wilmington, NC 28412

The Laney Buccaneers softball team scored 17 runs and held the host Ashley Screaming Eagle to 3 in the Buccaneers league win on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers now sport a 10-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Topsail for a Carolina Coast 6A/7A/8A battle on Friday, April 17. Laney will confront a Pirates team coming off a 11-8 league loss to North Brunswick (Leland, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 12-6.

With the loss, Ashley moves to 3-11 on the season. The Screaming eagle travel to East Columbus (Lake Waccamaw, NC) to confront the Gators in a non-league battle on Friday, April 17. The Gators come into the battle with a record of 11-5. East Columbus lost 5-4 in their recent non-league battle against Purnell Swett (Pembroke, NC)
