In Saturday's non-league game, the host Pinecrest Patriots baseball team scored a tight 8-3 victory over the Laney Buccaneers.

The Patriots (17-3) will now prepare for their game against Hoke County (Raeford, NC). The Bucks go into the Sandhills 3A/4A game with a 1-15 record. In their last game, Hoke County was overwhelmed by North Brunswick (Leland, NC), 10-4, in a non-league game.

The Buccaneers (4-11) will now prepare for their game against North Brunswick (Leland, NC). The Scorpions go into the Mideastern 3A/4A game with a 10-8 record. In their last game, North Brunswick tipped St. Pauls (St. Pauls, NC), 10-4, in a non-league game.
