Phelps Hornets (Phelps, KY) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV), 1-0 in a non-league test.
With the win, Phelps upgrades its record to 5-8 on the season. The Hornets host Mountain Mission (Grundy, VA) to battle the Challengers in a non-league test on Tuesday, April 16. The Challengers come into the test with a record of 0-0.
With the defeat, Mingo Central falls to 4-8 on the season. The Miners travel to WestSide (Clear Fork, WV) to battle the Renegades in a non-league test on Tuesday, April 16. The Renegades come into the test with a record of 6-4. WestSide lost 10-3 in their recent league test against Liberty (Glen Daniel, WV)
