Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) followers left the game pleased Monday as they observed their softball team defeat the host Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), 12-1 in a league game.
With the triumph, Alexander Central improves its record to 13-2 on the year. The Cougars host Watauga (Boone, NC) to clash with the Pioneers in a Northwestern 3A/4A game on Tuesday, April 16. The Pioneers come into the game with a record of 6-7. Watauga lost 10-0 in their recent league game against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC)
Coming up next, the Huskies encounter the Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC) in a Northwestern 3A/4A test, on Tuesday, April 16. Ashe County will attempt to improve on its 8-5 season record. The Panthers enter the test with a 4-10 record after their 12-0 league loss to Freedom (Morganton, NC).
