Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Parry McCluer Fighting Blues (Buena Vista, VA), 13-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Colonels now own a 3-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Nelson County for a Dogwood challenge on Friday, April 19. Altavista will battle a Governors squad coming off a 11-8 league loss to Gretna (Gretna, VA). The Governors record now stands at 0-10.

With the loss, Parry McCluer falls to 4-1 on the campaign. The Fighting blues travel to Craig County (New Castle, VA) to battle the Rockets in a Pioneer challenge on Wednesday, April 17. The Rockets enter the challenge with a record of 1-2. Craig County lost 9-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA)
