Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Marshall Lions (Marshall, IL), 12-2 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 15-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Paris for a Little Illini challenge on Thursday, April 18. Newton will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 8-7 non-league win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (Arthur, IL). The Tigers record now stands at 9-10.

With the loss, Marshall falls to 10-4 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Robinson (Robinson, IL) to battle the Maroons in a Little Illini challenge on Tuesday, April 16. The Maroons enter the challenge with a record of 4-6. Robinson won 7-2 in their recent league challenge against Paris (Paris, IL)
