New Castle Hurricanes (New Castle, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Moon Area Tigers (Moon Township, PA), 11-7 in a league challenge.

The Hurricanes now own a 2-5 record. They take the field next when they host Western Beaver for a WPIAL 5A 3 challenge on Tuesday, April 16. New Castle will battle a Golden Beavers squad coming off a 4-2 league loss to South Fayette (McDonald, PA). The Golden Beavers record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Moon Area falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Tigers host Upper St. Clair (Upper St. Clair, PA) to battle the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 17. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 2-2.
