Northeast Jones Tigers (Laurel, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Morton Panthers (Morton, MS), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 17-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Forest for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 16. Northeast Jones will battle a Bearcats squad coming off a 15-0 non-league win over Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS). The Bearcats record now stands at 7-10.

With the loss, Morton falls to 14-10 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Mendenhall (Mendenhall, MS) to battle the Tigers in a 4A Region 5 challenge on Tuesday, April 16.
