Mayfield Panthers (Mayfield, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Canajoharie Cougars (Canajoharie, NY), 7-2 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Duanesburg for a Section 2 Western - Southern challenge on Wednesday, April 17. Mayfield will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 11-1 league win over Fonda-Fultonville (Fonda, NY). The Eagles record now stands at 4-0.

With the loss, Canajoharie falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Fort Plain (Fort Plain, NY) to battle the Hilltoppers in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 17. The Hilltoppers enter the challenge with a record of 0-2. Fort Plain lost 26-7 in their recent league challenge against Galway (Galway, NY)
