Cross County Thunderbirds (Cherry Valley, AR) supporters left the game thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Rector Cougars (Rector, AR), 10-9 in a league game.

With the triumph, Cross County improves its record to 9-10 on the year. The Thunderbirds travel to Piggott (Piggott, AR) to face the Mohawks in a 2A Region 3 game on Thursday, April 17. The Mohawks enter the game with a record of 3-6. Piggott lost 23-6 in their recent league game against East Poinsett County (Lepanto, AR)

The Cougars now hold a 5-3 record. They play next when they host Buffalo Island Central for a 2A Region 3 game on Thursday, April 17. Rector will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 18-5 non-league win over Manila (Manila, AR). The Mustangs record now stands at 9-5.
