Sunrise Mountain Mustangs (Peoria, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Apollo Hawks (Glendale, AZ), 16-2 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 9-17 record. They take the field next when they host Liberty for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 18. Sunrise Mountain will battle a Lions squad coming off a 13-4 league loss to Mountain Ridge (Glendale, AZ). The Lions record now stands at 6-19.

With the loss, Apollo falls to 2-20 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Paradise Valley (Phoenix, AZ) to battle the Trojans in a 5A Northwest challenge on Friday, April 19. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 6-17. Paradise Valley won 16-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Washington (Phoenix, AZ)
