The Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA) softball routed the host Bassett Bengals (Bassett, VA), 16-1 in Wednesday's league bout.

The Comets (10-2) will now prepare for their bout against Franklin County (Rocky Mount, VA). The Eagles go into the non-league bout with a 5-2 record. In their last bout, Franklin County notched a victory over Fleming (Roanoke, VA), 19-0, in a league bout.

The Bengals now possess a 1-9 record. They play next when they travel to Mecklenburg County for a Piedmont bout on Thursday, April 18. Bassett will confront a Phoenix squad coming off a 8-5 league win over Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA). The Phoenix record now stands at 7-5.
