Pinecrest Patriots (Southern Pines, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Montgomery Central Timberwolves (Troy, NC), 10-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Patriots now own a 1-12 record. They take the field next when they host Scotland for a Sandhills 3A/4A challenge on Friday, April 19. Pinecrest will battle a Fighting Scots squad coming off a 13-1 league win over Hoke County (Raeford, NC). The Fighting Scots record now stands at 12-1.

With the loss, Montgomery Central falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Timberwolves travel to Central Davidson (Lexington, NC) to battle the Spartans in a Mid-Piedmont 3A challenge on Thursday, April 18. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 5-9. Central Davidson won 15-0 in their recent league challenge against Asheboro (Asheboro, NC)
