The Russell County Lakers triumphed over the visiting Metcalfe County Hornets softball squad by a count of 8-0 in Thursday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Lakers meet the Rockcastle County Rockets (Mt. Vernon, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, April 18. Russell County will attempt to improve on its 7-1 season record.

The Hornets now hold a 1-1 record. They play next when they host Clinton County for a non-league game on Tuesday, April 22. Metcalfe County will play a Bulldogs squad coming off a 7-1 non-league loss to Cumberland County (Burkesville, KY). The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-1.
