The Avery County Vikings softball squad (Newland, NC), was routed 14-1 in Thursday's league contest with the host Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC)
With the triumph, Mountain Heritage improves its record to 4-9 on the year. The Cougars host Draughn (Valdese, NC) to face the Wildcats in a Western Highlands 1A/2A contest on Tuesday, April 29. The Wildcats enter the contest with a record of 11-5.
The Vikings now hold a 2-11 record. They play next when they travel to Mitchell for a Western Highlands 1A/2A contest on Monday, April 28.
