Pope County Pirates (Golconda, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Century Centurions (Ullin, IL), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now sport a 3-9 record. They take the field next when they host Gallatin County for a Greater Egyptian challenge on Wednesday, April 20. Pope County will face a Hawks squad coming off a 17-0 league loss to Galatia/Thompsonville (Galatia, IL). The Hawks record now stands at 2-4.

With the loss, Century falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Centurions host Cobden (Cobden, IL) to face the Appleknockers in a South Egyptian challenge on Tuesday, April 19. The Appleknockers enter the challenge with a record of 4-6. Cobden lost 15-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Woodlawn (Woodlawn, IL)
