Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Orange Grove Bulldogs (Orange Grove, TX), 14-3 in a league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 27-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Odem for a 3A Region IV District 29 challenge on Friday, April 22. Mathis will face a Owls squad coming off a 27-10 league win over Skidmore-Tynan (Skidmore, TX). The Owls record now stands at 14-9.

With the loss, Orange Grove falls to 10-16 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Taft (Taft, TX) to face the Greyhounds in a 3A Region IV District 29 challenge on Friday, April 22. The Greyhounds enter the challenge with a record of 18-11. Taft won 2-0 in their recent league challenge against Aransas Pass (Aransas Pass, TX)
