Rural Retreat Indians (Rural Retreat, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Holston Cavaliers (Damascus, VA), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Indians now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Fort Chiswell for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 19. Rural Retreat will face a Pioneers squad coming off a 14-4 non-league loss to Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Holston falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Cavaliers host Patrick Henry (Glade Spring, VA) to face the Rebels in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 20. The Rebels enter the challenge with a record of 1-3. Patrick Henry won 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Northwood (Saltville, VA)
