Hickory Hornets (Hermitage, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Oil City Oilers (Oil City, PA), 8-2 in a league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they host Sharon for a District 10 Region 4 challenge on Thursday, April 20. Hickory will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 9-8 league loss to Franklin (Franklin, PA). The Tigers record now stands at 3-5.

With the loss, Oil City falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Oilers travel to Grove City (Grove City, PA) to battle the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 20. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 0-7. Grove City lost 14-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Conneaut Area (Linesville, PA)
