Mecklenburg County Phoenix (Baskerville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Bassett Bengals (Bassett, VA), 18-0 in a league challenge.

The Phoenix now own a 8-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Halifax County for a Piedmont challenge on Thursday, April 25.

With the loss, Bassett falls to 1-10 on the campaign. The Bengals host Franklin County (Rocky Mount, VA) to face the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 22. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Franklin County won 2-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Halifax County (South Boston, VA)
