Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Butler Golden Tornado (Butler, PA), 12-0 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host Elizabeth Forward for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 22. Hempfield Area will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 15-0 league win over Greensburg Salem (Greensburg, PA). The Warriors record now stands at 9-0.

With the loss, Butler falls to 2-6 on the campaign. The Golden tornado host Norwin (North Huntingdon, PA) to battle the Knights in a WPIAL 6A 1 challenge on Friday, April 19. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 4-2.
