Gilbert Yellowjackets (Winsted, CT) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Wolcott RVT Wildcats (Torrington, CT), 23-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Yellowjackets now sport a 2-5 record. They take the field next when they host Terryville for a Berkshire challenge on Friday, April 21. Gilbert will face a Kangaroos squad coming off a 20-0 league loss to Nonnewaug (Woodbury, CT). The Kangaroos record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Wolcott RVT falls to 1-6 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Northwestern Regional (Winsted, CT) to face the Highlanders in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 24. The Highlanders enter the challenge with a record of 5-4. Northwestern Regional lost 6-5 in their recent league challenge against Nonnewaug (Woodbury, CT)
