Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), 9-8 in a league test.

With the win, Fort Chiswell upgrades its record to 8-4 on the season. The Pioneers host Giles (Pearisburg, VA) to battle the Spartans in a Mountain Empire test on Monday, April 22. The Spartans come into the test with a record of 1-8. Giles lost 10-1 in their recent league test against Auburn (Riner, VA)

With the defeat, Grayson County falls to 6-4 on the season. The Blue devils travel to Carroll County (Hillsville, VA) to battle the Cavaliers in a non-league test on Monday, April 22. The Cavaliers come into the test with a record of 8-2. Carroll County won 7-0 in their recent league test against James River (Buchanan, VA)
