Mapletown Maples (Greensboro, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), 8-0 in a league challenge.

The Maples now own a 4-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Jefferson-Morgan for a WPIAL 1A 2 challenge on Thursday, April 25.

With the loss, Avella falls to 3-6 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Jefferson-Morgan (Jefferson, PA) to battle the Rockets in a WPIAL 1A 2 challenge on Monday, April 22. The Rockets enter the challenge with a record of 3-4. Jefferson-Morgan won 19-4 in their recent league challenge against California (Coal Center, PA)
