North Carolina High School Softball - Perquimans nudges Martin County

April 19, 2024: Hertford, NC 27944

Perquimans Pirates (Hertford, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Martin County Knights (Williamston, NC), 10-9 in a league challenge.

The Pirates now sport a 14-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gates County for a Four Rivers 1A challenge on Tuesday, April 23. Perquimans will face a Red Barons squad coming off a 21-6 league win over Bertie (Windsor, NC). The Red Barons record now stands at 11-6.

With the loss, Martin County falls to 16-1 on the campaign. The Knights travel to Eastern Christian HomeSchool (Washington, NC) to face the Trailblazers in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 22. The Trailblazers enter the challenge with a record of 3-6. Eastern Christian HomeSchool lost 12-6 in their recent non-league challenge against John Paul II Catholic (Greenville, NC)
