Abbott Panthers (Abbott, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Avalon Eagles (Avalon, TX), 18-9 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 13-11 record. They take the field next when they travel to Dawson for a 2A Region II District 14 challenge on Thursday, April 4. Abbott will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Italy (Italy, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 16-8.

With the loss, Avalon falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Italy (Italy, TX) to face the Gladiators in a 2A Region II District 14 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Gladiators enter the challenge with a record of 17-7. Italy won 4-3 in their recent league challenge against Hubbard (Hubbard, TX)
