In Wednesday's league outing, the host Brooke Point Black Hawks soccer squad scored a tight 3-2 victory over the North Stafford Wolverines.
The Black Hawks (1-1) will now prepare for their outing against Stafford (Falmouth, VA). The Indians go into the Commonwealth outing with a 2-2 record. In their last outing, Stafford got by Colonial Forge (Stafford, VA), 2-1, in a league outing.
Next up, the Wolverines play the Freedom Eagles (Woodbridge, VA) in a non-league outing, on Friday, April 4. North Stafford will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record. The Eagles go into the outing with a 1-3 record after their 2-1 league loss to Forest Park (Woodbridge, VA).
Match Summary
North Stafford came out strong, weathering the storm and putting two goals on Brooke Point to end the first half. Brooke Point, however, was capable of pushing North Stafford on the backfoot in the second half, capitalizing on mistakes and errors made to tie the game. The game got chippy, with Brooke Point getting an automatic Red Card for a player punching a North Stafford player after a contested play on the ball. North did not have long to capitalize on the numerical advantage, as a reckless defensive play by North player J.T. Cobos got him a second yellow and an ejection. Brooke Point was able to get ahead on a corner kick, and ran the clock out, taking the relentless offensive assault from North on the chin to complete a two point comeback victory. This would be North's second straight game unsuccessfully closing out games with the lead at half time.
