In Thursday's non-league match, the host Garinger Wildcats softball team scored a tight 27-23 win over the Chambers Cougars.

The Wildcats (1-9) will now prepare for their match against Hough (Cornelius, NC). The Huskies come into the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A match with a 13-3 record. In their last match, Hough was routed by Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC), 13-8, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Cougars battle the Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC) in a Meck Power Six 7A/8A game, on Tuesday, April 14. Chambers will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Patriots enter the game with a 8-5 record after their 15-0 league win over Mallard Creek (Charlotte, NC).
