Skowhegan River Hawks (Skowhegan, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Messalonskee Eagles (Oakland, ME), 8-7 in a league challenge.

The River Hawks now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Mt. Blue for a Class A North challenge on Wednesday, April 26.

With the loss, Messalonskee falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Eagles host Lawrence (Fairfield, ME) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 24. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 2-0. Lawrence won 14-4 in their recent league challenge against Oceanside (Rockland, ME)
