The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders baseball team scored 8 runs and limited the host McDowell Trojans to 7 in the Marauders non-league victory on Saturday.
The Marauders (4-1) will now prepare for their match against Canisius (Buffalo, NY). The Crusaders go into the Monsignor Martin match with a 2-5 record. In their last match, Canisius edged St. Francis (Hamburg, NY), 5-2, in a league match.
The Trojans (5-4) will now prepare for their match against Meadville (Meadville, PA). The Bulldogs go into the District 10 Region 5 match with a 8-1 record. In their last match, Meadville was edged by Cathedral Prep (Erie, PA), 5-1, in a league match.
Game Summary
The Marauders used contributions up and down the lineup to finish the sweep of McDowell 8-7 in extra innings. The biggest of the hits came from Mark Rapp, who had a 3-run double, and Aiden Whitehead who knocked in the game-winning run with a double. Aidan Nitsche got his first career varsity win. Phil Onevelo and Mike Pegnia had 2 hits each.
