In Saturday's non-league match, the visiting Belleville East Lancers softball team scored a tight 5-2 victory over the Jersey Panthers.

The Lancers (16-7) will now prepare for their match against Alton (Alton, IL). The Redbirds go into the Southwestern match with a 6-9 record. In their last match, Alton tipped Cahokia (Cahokia, IL), 6-0, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Panthers battle the Waterloo Bulldogs (Waterloo, IL) in a Mississippi Valley match, on Monday, April 22. Jersey will attempt to better on its 5-9 season record. The Bulldogs go into the match with a 17-4 record after their 6-1 non-league win over Valmeyer (Valmeyer, IL).
