Midland Trail Patriots (Hico, WV) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Charleston Catholic Irish (Charleston, WV), 16-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Patriots now own a 12-4 record. They take the field next when they host Summers County for a Coalfield A challenge on Monday, April 22. Midland Trail will face a Bobcats squad coming off a 25-8 league loss to Mount View (Welch, WV). The Bobcats record now stands at 0-5.

With the loss, Charleston Catholic falls to 7-5 on the campaign. The Irish host Buffalo (Buffalo, WV) to face the Bison in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 22. The Bison enter the challenge with a record of 6-8. Buffalo won 12-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Elk Valley Christian (Elkview, WV)
