El Capitan Vaqueros (Lakeside, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Steele Canyon Cougars (Spring Valley, CA), 12-5 in a league challenge.

The Vaqueros now own a 9-8 record. They take the field next when they host Granite Hills for a challenge on Monday, April 25. El Capitan will face a Eagles squad coming off a 9-0 league loss to Helix (La Mesa, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, Steele Canyon falls to 11-9 on the campaign. The Cougars host Santana (Santee, CA) to face the Sultans in a challenge on Tuesday, April 26. The Sultans enter the challenge with a record of 20-3.
