The crowd at Friday's non-league match between the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) and the host Carroll County Cavaliers (Hillsville, VA), saw Alleghany's softball squad nip Carroll County by a count of 10-4.

The Mountaineers now sport a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to James River for a non-league match on Tuesday, April 25. Alleghany will face a Knights squad coming off a 24-5 non-league win over Radford (Radford, VA). The Knights record now stands at 5-5.

With the loss, Carroll County falls to 9-3 on the campaign. The Cavaliers travel to Floyd County (Floyd, VA) to face the Buffaloes in a non-league match on Tuesday, April 25. The Buffaloes enter the match with a record of 7-4. Floyd County won 18-6 in their recent non-league match against Glenvar (Salem, VA)
