Narragansett Mariners (Narragansett, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Westerly Bulldogs (Westerly, RI), 7-6 in a league challenge.

The Mariners now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lincoln for a Division 2 challenge on Monday, April 24. Narragansett will face a Lions squad coming off a 15-5 league win over Portsmouth (Portsmouth, RI). The Lions record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Westerly falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Cumberland (Cumberland, RI) to face the Clippers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 22. The Clippers enter the challenge with a record of 3-4. Cumberland lost 12-6 in their recent non-league challenge against King Philip Regional (Wrentham, MA)
