Ohio High School Softball - Vinton County holds off Athens

April 22, 2022: The Plains, OH 45780

Vinton County Vikings (McArthur, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Athens Bulldogs (The Plains, OH), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 12-3 record. They take the field next when they host Federal Hocking for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 23. Vinton County will face a Lancers squad coming off a 5-2 league win over South Gallia (Crown City, OH). The Lancers record now stands at 3-7.

With the loss, Athens falls to 8-5 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Philo (Duncan Falls, OH) to face the Electrics in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 23. The Electrics enter the challenge with a record of 5-3. Philo won 8-7 in their recent league challenge against Morgan (McConnelsville, OH)
